CAI Format: Mathematics game
Instructional Objectives: demonstrate how to quickly estimate whole numbers and decimals (with and without negative numbers)
Intended Audience: Elementary school students.
Brief Description: This is a game for two players. Some old miner left his ax down in the mineshaft. Each player tries to retrieve the ax by estimating how far down the ax is in the mineshaft. Each player takes a turn typing in their estimate. Then each player's elevator goes down into the mine. Which ever player's elevator is closest to the level of the ax will get it loaded and taken back to the surface to be dumped on their side of the mine. The first player to retrieve 5 axes wins the game.
